This is one of my favourite things about creating beautiful curtains for your home. The fabric was in too good a condition to part with so we used it to make new 2 new pairs of longer curtains. Discussing ideas and the customers own vision of what they wanted (and what they didn't want). Coming up with a design and then making that design. Care has been taken in making these curtains. When the hand stitching and pleating is done the work is not over. The curtains need to be pressed and dressed. Double pleat curtains are the most popular curtain heading my clients choose. It's simple and stylish and the best bit it uses a little less fabric to construct than the traditional triple pleat heading which can mean a little less fabric.

11 months ago (May 2024) my daughter Fiona Aldworth had the “Whipple” operation to remove the body and head of her pancreas, her gall bladder, part of her stomach, duodenum and a little bit of her small intestine. In December 2024 she ran 6.27miles in our local race called the monument run. She ran in the Exeter 1/2 marathon in February in this year (2025). Her friend Daisy Parker has supported her on longer runs and now, in 2 weeks time she will be running the LONDON MARATHON in aid of Pancreatic Cancer. She was lucky no cancer was found, but if left she would not have been so lucky. Machine made curtains. Two pairs of 2 1/2 width curtains. In the interest of honesty, when I measured for these curtains the drop altered across the length of the track, I chose the wrong measurement so they were either too long or too short and the leading edges were all a bit shorter than the drop I requested. I discussed the problem with the maker and I could of sent them back for altering, but I decided I would alter them myself. The solution, we left them hanging for one week to see if they settle. They did improve a little, but not enough for my liking, so I altered the drop, and whilst I was doing that, I decided I could, in fact, taper the curtains to suit the different drops. When things go wrong it's how you fix the problem that counts. Atmospheric conditions can affect fabric and cause a rise and fall and although I have never had this happen before, it really doesn't matter why, what matters is putting them right. 🧵❄🌞🧵
