My name is Sue Risdon and I have been trading as Sewing Sue since I started my business in 2001 after completing four years of City and Guilds training in Soft Furnishings.

I have sewn for as long as I can remember; mum taught me and the sewing machine was a regular feature on our kitchen table! When the company I worked for closed, part of the redundancy package was the offer of re-training and I took this opportunity to enrol in a sewing class to improve my sewing skills. I quickly realised I wanted to learn more so after the closure I took a job working a 6-2 shift and enrolled at our local college offering City and Guilds training. I was working, bringing up my children, learning and starting my own business all at the same time but it was defintely worth the effort and can honestly say I have enjoyed the journey.

The curtains and Roman blinds I make are hand crafted (hand sewn hems and sides). I also make cushions and pelmets and can also supply pole and tracks. I work with you from start to finish, helping you to decide on colour, fabric pattern and style, I then make the items and finally I hang and dress the items. A lot of my clients make arrangements to fit poles and tracks themselves, but I can arrange fitting, sometimes I outsource this bit to a local blind and track company but these are the details that we discuss together.

Please contact me if you wish to discuss (without obligation) how I can help you to create beautiful window furnishings for your home.
